HOW CHILDREN END UP AT THE ORPHANAGE
This is the question we are most often asked! There are three primary reasons children are sent to an orphanage in Mexico.
- 1.DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES
- Drugs
- Alcohol
- Violence and abuse
- Abandonment
- Parent(s) in prison
- 2.PAERENTS DIED
- Car Accidents
- Illness or disease
- 3.SEPERATED DURING IMMIGRATION
This third cause is beginning to play a larger cause of orphaned children in Northern Mexico. Sadly, here is how it happens:
Father illegally immigrates to the United States and finds a job.
Father sends for mom to illegally immigrate to the U.S. Mom leaves the children with grandparents in Mexico, planning to send for them when she is established.
Parents make arrangements with a people smuggler to send the children to the U.S. After crossing the border, the children are picked up by the U.S. Border Patrol and returned to authorities in Mexico.
The children do not know where in the U.S. their parents are and do not know how to contact their grandparents somewhere in Mexico.
Under Mexican law, if the children are not claimed by their parents within 90 days, the children become permanent wards of the state.
